Frequently Asked Questions
I’m an artist, how can I turn my work into bronze?
If you have a digital or clay sculpture we can 3D print or wax cast any existing sculpture. If you’re a 2D artist we can work with you to recreate your art into a 3D file to 3D print and cast your art.
I have a statue / sculpture idea but I’m not an artist, can you help?
Firebird Bronze is both a design studio and foundry, if you are a business or individual that wants a sculpture made we can work with you through the entire process from ideation to finished bronze to make your sculpture goals reality.
Can you turn me / my family member / pet / my sentimental item into a statue?
We can 3D scan, 3D print and cast basically anything! As long as it can sit relatively still for a few minutes at a time, yes.
Do you work with materials other than bronze?
Yes, we make silver sculptures and have done projects using gold, hydraulics, and pyrotechnics. If a client wants to have a multimedia statue, or a statue from a material we don’t normally advertise, we can either do it in house or point you to other industry professionals we recommend.
Do you make awards?
Yes, we make one off custom trophies and awards as well as production runs of trophies and awards.
What’s the smallest / largest you can cast?
We cast items as small as jewelry and our largest statue to date is a 25 foot orca.
How long does it take to make sculptures?
Standard production timelines have us completing sculptures between 12 and 20 weeks, but it completely depends on the project and the needs of the client. Rush projects can be as fast as 6 weeks and huge, multimedia monuments can take upwards of 2 years.
Should I 3D scan or have a mold made of my sculpture?
We prefer 3D scans over molds in the modern era for a few reasons. When using a 3D scan instead of a mold we can scale a sculpture up or down to make new sizes in bronze, as well as easily edit details or the entire pose of a piece. 3D scanning is a faster process than mold making so we can go from scan to finished bronze faster. Molds have to be physically moved and deteriorate overtime whereas 3D files are accessible by anyone with the file and don’t deteriorate so pieces that will be cast many times over the course of years are better off 3D scanned.
How large of a 3D print can you cast?
We can 3D print statues at any size. We build large monuments by welding all of it’s pieces together. Because we weld together smaller pieces to create large monuments we can print any size piece by sectioning a digital sculpt into multiple panels, printing those individual panels, then welding those panels together when they’ve been cast.
Do you offer sculpting classes?
Currently we do not but if you’re interested let us know! As soon as we have the time and enough interest we would happily open up clay or digital sculpting classes.
Do you make molds?
Yes, we make molds in house for wax casting.
Do you repair existing bronze statues?
Yes, we do repair existing bronze sculptures. Repairs brought to our shop require a minimum of 500.00 USD and on site repairs require a minimum of 5000.00 USD.
Do you appraise bronze statues?
We do not.
